Fenway Park
Boston, MA

Green International performed a detailed "hands-on" inspection of the trusses supporting the grandstand seating area to assess the condition and identify undocumented repairs to the trusses. All inspection was performed using ladders and protected climbing techniques. Additionally, Green prepared as-built sketches of the trusses for use in the rehabilitation and expansion of the grandstand seating area.
MBTA Alewife Station Garage
Cambridge, MA

Green International, as part of a comprehensive rehabilitation of the Alewife Garage, performed a detailed inspection of the existing garage columns, deck slab, joints and stairways. Green prepared rehabilitation drawings, including several unique details for access hatches within the columns, and performed "on-call" construction observation services to ensure work was completed to the satisfaction of the MBTA.

Harvard University Jordan Field and
Beren Tennis Center

Green performed the structural design for Jordan Field and Beren Tennis Center at Harvard University's Athletic Complex in Allston, MA as a subconsultant to D'AIQ Architects. The foundation for the 2-story Beren Tennis Pavilion structure was designed using a reinforced concrete structural slab on grade beams supported by pressure injected footings in order to prevent settlement in the poor underlying soil. Steel framing was used above the foundation.

Green was also responsible for designing post-tensioned concrete slabs for eighteen tennis courts, six of which are high level NCAA competition courts that had to adhere to strict surface tolerances.

For Jordan Field, Green designed the foundations for the spectator seating bleacher system and press box, adjacent to the multi-purpose synt hetic turf field. Green also designed foundations for the large utility structures, including a stormwater pumping station with a design capacity of 10,000 gallons per minute that serves Jordan Field and Beren Tennis facilities and houses three 30 Hp submersible pumps. Please select an item.

Massport Water Shuttle Terminal Building

Green participated in Massport’s “Water Shuttle Terminal Logan South – MPA Project No. 1540A” providing civil and structural engineering services as a subconsultant to a local architect. The project was designed in 1993 and successfully constructed, as part of Massport’s goal of adding an additional mode of transportation for accessing the airport.

Green's services included the provisions for grading and utility location for civil/site services.

Structural engineering services included the design of a structural steel building including a canopy to provide weather protection for local buses. The footings for this canopy were designed to straddle the main electrical cable feed to the airport.

The building structure was supported on the existing concrete jetty which required extensive load capacity computations on the existing structure.

BWSC Back Bay Fens Gate Houses No. 1 & No. 2

Green, as a subconsultant to an architect, was involved in the preliminary design, final design and construction administration services for the Boston Water and Sewer Commission’s (BWSC) Back Bay Fens Gate Houses No.1 and No. 2 improvement project. The Gate Houses are located along the banks of the Muddy River and are considered historical landmarks. The buildings consisted of masonry blocks and slate roof. The buildings house a total of seven sluice gates in concrete channels that controlled the discharge of the stormwater and combined sewage to the Muddy River.

The improvement project included the evaluation and recommendation for improvements of several structural elements such as the existing floor and roof systems, concrete channel arches, and the exterior walls. Green completed the design of a new floor concrete floor system with adequate capacity for storage or public use; and the design of the concrete channel arches strengthening support.

Throughout the construction of the improvement project, Green provided construction assistance services and structural design services to resolve several unforeseen field conditions.

U.S. Coast Guard Academy
Leadership Development Center

As the Prime Consultant, Green International Affiliates was the leader for a multi-discipline A/E team for a three story building renovation project undertaken for the U.S. Coast Guard. Services included architectural, civil, structural, mechanical and electrical design services. Icon Architecture, Inc., provided the architectural services as part of our overall project team. The building involved renovation for 33,000 square feet of space under a very tight budget. Salient features included maximizing existing floor to ceiling heights, continuous lightwells at the windows and a cove system in the central hallway. As part of our civil/site services, Green provided structural engineering services for the three story renovation project. Pictured below is the ribbon-cutting ceremony after construction.
